Uniform Policy

It is our school policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school, representing the school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours, unless the activity involves wearing specific clothing for health and safety reasons.

Aims and objectives

Our policy on school uniform is based on the notion that school uniform:

  • Promotes a sense of pride in the school;
  • Engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school;
  • Is practical and smart;
  • Identifies the children with the school;
  • Prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting in class;
  • Makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance;
  • Is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most parents;
  • Is designed with health and safety in mind.

Our uniform consists of:

  • Royal blue sweatshirts or cardigans
  • White polo shirt or blouse
  • Grey trousers, grey skirt or pinafore dress
  • Blue and white gingham or striped dresses or knee length shorts (summer only)
  • Black shoes (not trainers, no heels)
  • White, grey or black socks (tights for girls in winter)

Uniform with our logo, including the sweatshirts can be purchased from Corporate Tiger in Mildenhall. https://corporatetiger.co.uk/school-uniform/

For PE:

  • Plain black sports shorts or jogging bottoms
  • House colour t-shirt (compulsory from Sept 2024)
  • Plain black or white trainers for outdoor PE
  • Royal blue sweatshirts or cardigans may be worn for PE in the winter months. Other hoodies/jumpers with sports logos are not to be worn.
  • One piece swim suits for girls and swimming trunks for boys (KS2 only)

Children in Reception should bring their PE kit to school on a Monday and take it home to wash on Friday. A small drawstring PE bag should be used to hold the kit.

Children in Years 1 – 6 should come to school in their PE kit on the days specified by their class teacher.

Please make sure all items are clearly marked with your child’s name.

To help with this we have partnered with Tiger Tags, please visit www.tigertags.co.uk/school/6464 to purchase your custom iron on and self adhesive name tags. All purchases through this link will raise money for the school!

Jewellery

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school. The exceptions to this rule are single earring studs in pierced ears, and small objects of religious significance. We ask the children to remove these objects during PE and games, to prevent them from causing injury to themselves or others. If your child cannot independently remove earrings, we ask that they are removed at home on the day that they have PE. Tape is no longer considered a measure to minimise accidents. Makeup, including nail polish is not permitted in school.

Extreme hairstyles are not permitted – this includes tramlines or markings etched into the hair and coloured hair dyes. Long hair must be tied back. Large hair accessories are not permitted.

The role of parents

We ask all parents who send their children to our school to support the school uniform policy. We believe that parents have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and ready for their daily schoolwork. One of the responsibilities of parents is to ensure that their child has the correct uniform, and that it is clean and in good repair.

All pupils are expected to wear our school uniform every day that they attend school. All pupils who arrive at school without appropriate uniform will be given a letter to bring home to parents. We ask that you support us in this matter.
