In Mathematics we use the programmes of study for key stages 1 and 2 for the National Curriculum in England. For a complete overview please click HERE to open a new window with the whole document from the Department for Education.

We use White Rose as our medium term plan – please see below. Where relevant we also teach maths through the IPC units.

In summary:

Over the course of key stages 1 and 2 children will be given the opportunity to develop to the full, their abilities in:

  • Number
  • Measurement
  • Geometry
  • Statistics
  • Ratio and Proportion
  • Algebra

Our Maths lessons are taught every day in Year 1 to 6 and incorporate a range of skills linked to mental maths and written mathematical calculations, dependant on the appropriateness at different ages.

We use the White Rose Maths scheme of work to underpin the use of using concrete resources, pictorial resources and then abstract concepts within all areas of the Maths curriculum.

We follow the White Rose Maths calculation policy to support our teaching of the key methods: Calculation-policy
