Information concerning the time of entry to school is published in the Suffolk County Council “Information for Parents and Lists of Schools” booklet (a copy is available in the office or from the link at the bottom of this page). We have an admissions number of 30 in all year groups apart from Early Years (60) and have one admission date at the start of the academic year for all pupils who would be turning 5 during that year.
Visits to Beck Row Primary Academy are welcomed and encouraged so that you can see our team in action. It is also helpful to have read our Admissions Policy and School Prospectus before you visit, to have questions ready to ask.
Applying for a place in Reception in September 2020:
We have space for 60 children in Reception.
Please apply with Suffolk County Council up until the 31st August 2020. After the 1st September 2020 please apply by downloading an ADM1 form here or collecting one from the school office.
Applying for an In-Year place:
To transfer to Beck Row Primary Academy from another school, please download an ADM1 form here and return it to the school or alternatively you can obtain a form from the school office.
Our PAN for 2020/2021 is as follows:
Year 1: 30
Year 2: 30
Year 3: 30
Year 4: 30
Year 5: 30
Year 6: 30
If your application for a school place is refused, you can appeal against this decision to the Academy Transformation Trust.
You can download the ATT_Admissions_Appeals_Form_NOV18
The School Admission Appeals Code paragraph 4.6 states “The panel may only uphold the appeal at the first stage where:
a) it finds that the admission of additional children would not breach the infant class size limit; or
b) it finds that the admission arrangements did not comply with admissions law or were not correctly and impartially applied and the child would have been offered a place if the arrangements had complied or had been correctly and impartially applied; or
c) it decides that the decision to refuse admission was not one which a reasonable admission authority would have made in the circumstances of the case.”
The 1980 Education Act allows parents much more freedom in the selection of schools for their children, although for a variety of reasons parents are encouraged to send their children to their local school. We would advise all parents of children about to start at Beck Row Primary Academy or other local schools to talk to the headteachers before making a decision.
